Reports from Spain have now given Chelsea a chance at completing the signing of Barcelona starlet Gavi.

According to Sport, the financial issues at the La Liga side leave them in a position where they could be forced to sell one of their prized assets to balance the books.

Chelsea have reportedly been linked with Gavi before, after Barcelona threatened to seriously mess up his contract situation.

There was a time where he was unable to be registered as a first team player, leaving him unhappy with the situation that was playing out.

This led to interest being sparked in his services, and the Blues being one of those interested in a potential deal.

Things even went as far as the club meeting with a representative of the player, although this was later played down as not an important factor.

However, the financial situation at the Nou Camp is still in a bad position, and it is now being reported that they may have to sell a top player in order to get themselves back on track.

Chelsea chance for Gavi

While Chelsea are one of the sides who could pounce on this, it would perhaps seem unlikely based on some of their recent transfer dealings.

The club oversaw a complete midfield rebuild over the summer, bringing in some top names for top prices.

They smashed their own record to bring in Moises Caicedo ahead of competition from Liverpool, whilst also beat the Reds to the addition of Romeo Lavia, who is yet to play due to injury.

With Enzo Fernandez and even Conor Gallagher showing undroppable form right now, bringing in another talented midfielder seems an unlikely scenario for Todd Boehly and co to consider in an upcoming window.
