Enzo Maresca has been pretty consistent with his team selection in the Premier League since becoming Chelsea manager.

Because of this, some players have found it difficult to make an impact at Stamford Bridge this season.

The goalkeeper position is one that is yet to see a change, with Robert Sanchez repaying the faith in him with a brilliant performance against Bournemouth.

The signing of Filip Jorgensen has made it a shootout for the number one shirt at the club, leaving Marcus Bettinelli remaining in his role as a squad player.

Under multiple managers now the former Fulham goalkeeper has remained out of the first team picture, with him picking up a role as a leading voice behind the scenes.

It looks as if his impact is best seen developing the younger players at the club. Bettinelli said that he takes great joy from helping the likes of Eddie Beach and Ted Curd.

He said to The Athletic: “I definitely don’t want to go into management, I have seen how hard it is! Over the past year I did my UEFA B coaching badges with Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella, which I really enjoyed. I will definitely do my UEFA A goalkeeping badges soon. It is probably where I am heading towards. I really enjoy helping young goalkeepers. That, for me, is the best.

“I helped people like Eddie Beach (20 years old, now on loan at Crawley Town) and Ted Curd (18 years old, now on loan at Hampton and Richmond Borough) last season. That is what I love doing, seeing young lads improve. I can give them tips and share the experiences of what I have done.”

Jorgensen is being forced to earn his minutes in Europe and the domestic cups at the minute, despite the fact there was excitement over his addition during the recent transfer window.

However, Sanchez’s heroics caught the eye against Bournemouth, with Alan Shearer naming him in his Team of the Week in the Premier League.

With supporters no means fully convinced by what they have seen from the former Brighton man, he has got off to a good start this season in beginning to prove people wrong.
