As Chelsea deal with an injury crisis in defence, perhaps there is some regret that they let Andreas Christensen go on a free transfer a few years ago.

Andreas Christensen, 29, is a ball-playing central defender who’s been at Barcelona since they signed him in 2022.

The centre-half spent a decade at Chelsea, starting in the academy before becoming a first-team regular. Without a doubt, the highlight was his appearance when the Blues beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.

Christensen, who was spotted watching Chelsea against Liverpool on his phone at the weekend, has been a squad player during his time in the Camp Nou. The Denmark international has a very impressive individual statistic so far this season.

Andreas Christensen tops La Liga stat this season, it’s better than any Chelsea player

WhoScored claims via X that Barcelona’s Christensen has the highest pass accuracy in the Spanish La Liga so far in the 2025/26 season with a mammoth 96.5%.

The former Blues star has made eight appearances across all competitions this campaign, including six matches in La Liga for a total of 287 minutes.

In contrast, the Chelsea player with the best passing accuracy so far this season in the Premier League is midfielder Moises Caicedo with 91.1% (FBREF).

Andreas Christensen will soon get Chelsea reunion

Christensen could soon get the chance to play against Chelsea in the Champions League. Incidentally, it’s a very different Blues squad to the one he left.

Here is a look at the remaining group fixtures for Enzo Maresca’s side in this year’s Champions League:

At the end of November, Christensen will return to Stamford Bridge. If he plays, Chelsea will need to be wary of his composure and quality on the ball when playing out from defence.
