The form of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has certainly been one of the biggest talking points around Stamford Bridge for the first half of the season.
Nicolas Jackson, 22, has been one of the main starters for the Blues since his summer arrival.
The forward’s scored eight goals in 23 Chelsea appearances so far, but he’s now joined up with Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
In fairness, he’s still come under-fire for plenty of criticism despite some important contributions. His lack of composure in front of goal is a problem he’ll certainly hope to grow out of.

The Evening Standard has claimed that senior Chelsea staff believe that Jackson has had to contend with added pressure this season because the team simply hasn’t scored enough goals.
The report added that Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is happy with the 22-year-old.
We agree that Pochettino’s side don’t score enough, especially when you look at how many chances they often create in game. It’s a modest return of 34 goals in 20 league matches so far this season.
Nicolas Jackson pressure at Chelsea
Chelsea have needed Jackson to perform at a greater rate than what’s realistic. Let’s remember it’s his first six months in English football and this is an inconsistent young side he’s trying to impress in.
In fairness, Jackson’s the joint-top scorer at Chelsea so far this season with eight goals across all competitions. He tied with the impressive Cole Palmer in that regard.
This next few weeks will brings its own pressures for Jackson while representing his country at an international competition, but it will earn him some respite from any disgruntled Chelsea supporters.
He waved goodbye with one of his top displays of the season at the the weekend in the 3-2 away victory against Luton Town. It was noticeable that he excelled a lot more as a left-winger than striker, which is something to keep an eye out on moving forward. Speaking via Chelsea’s 5th Stand App (2:10pm, 30 December), Jason Cundy said Jackson was “excellent” at Luton.
