Chelsea’s transfer target has delivered a glowing assessment on the quality of Blues star Levi Colwill.

When you look at the Chelsea squad, the defence has had its issues this season. However, Levi Colwill is usually a constant in the centre-back position, starting 25 out of 27 Premier League games.

The 22-year-old English centre-half is a product of the Blues academy and now a key first-team starter.

Chelsea will spend big on three positions when the summer transfer window comes around, including on a new central defender. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see if Colwill has a new defensive partner next season.

Marc Guehi claims Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill has unlimited potential

Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi, 24, has raved about the individual quality of international teammate Colwill.

When discussing Chelsea’s Colwill, Guehi told Sky Sports Premier League: “I’ve known him and been around him. I know what he’s capable of. Honestly the sky’s the limit for him.”

Guehi’s comments come at a time when he’s heavily linked with a transfer move to Stamford Bridge. Incidentally, the Palace defender started out in Chelsea’s academy as a youngster before pursuing a first-team career elsewhere.

Let’s wait and see if he’s lining up alongside Colwill at club level in the 2025/26 campaign.

If Chelsea get a deal for Guehi over the line, he could be the perfect partner for Colwill at centre-back.

Even though Guehi’s only aged 24, he’s mature beyond his years and has the type of experience that could blend nicely next to Colwill.

Unfortunately, Wesley Fofana’s poor injury record means that he can’t be relied upon in the heart of defence. In contrast, a Guehi-Colwill combination may have the potential to blossom and grow together. The fact they both came through at Cobham is extra special as well.
