Chelsea are already keeping the promise made to their players upon signing their contracts with the club by rewarding some with new deals, and now another individual looks set to receive this treatment.

It has been widely reported that Marc Cucurella is expected to sign a new deal with the club in the near future, after completely turning around his Stamford Bridge career over the last two seasons.

Just 24 months ago the Blues were looking to send him on loan to Manchester United, however now he is seen as a crucial part of Enzo Maresca’s system.

Cole Palmer is another player who has previously been rewarded for his excellent start to life at Chelsea with a new deal, however there may be some regrets that they have also offered this luxury to Nicolas Jackson, who now looks set to move away before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea to offer Moises Caicedo a new contract

It is clear though that the most important players at the club are being acknowledged for their performances, and one who certainly fits into that category is Moises Caicedo.

Maresca has claimed Caicedo continues to improve under his leadership, and the club could be about to reward this with a new deal.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed conversations have already taken place between both parties, and a new contract is being considered.

He said: “Chelsea are going to plan for several things to discuss with their players. One of the names I would keep an eye on is Moises Caicedo. He joined two years ago, he is already on an important contract and good salary, but Chelsea will consider to offer him a new deal because they really believe they have one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

“They want to give him an even better contract. Conversations will continue, they already had some contact at the beginning of the summer, so let’s see what’s going to happen. Caicedo is very happy at Chelsea, and Chelsea love Caicedo.”

Caicedo more than worthy of new deal

According to Capology, Caicedo is currently earning £150k-a-week at Chelsea. This figure is significantly less than the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana and Raheem Sterling.

It is certainly a good thing that the club have moved away from handing out these big contracts, however they need to ensure they are rewarding their most important players in order to continue to get them to buy into the process at the club.

The Chelsea squad are equally aware of how important the Ecuador midfielder has become for them after just two years at Stamford Bridge.

Romeo Lavia described Caicedo as ‘unbelievable’, and his presence is always missed in the rare times where he is not a starter for the club.
