Romeo Lavia has explained that it’s a blessing to play alongside one Chelsea teammate.
In his own right, Romeo Lavia is an extremely important player in the Chelsea squad. We’d argue that he’s often the glue at the base of midfield when he’s fit and firing.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has been seriously unfortunate with injuries during his first two years as a Blues player, but it’s obvious he makes a major difference when he’s on the pitch.
Cole Palmer has huge faith in Lavia because he’s tipping him to develop into one of the world’s best midfielders.

Romeo Lavia says Moises Caicedo does his job for him
According to Lavia, Moises Caicedo is the Rolls-Royce in Chelsea’s midfield, claiming that he actually does his job for him without the ball.
Lavia said via Chelsea’s official website: “Thank God I play next to the absolute destroyer, sometimes he does my job, I’m like let me do a little bit. He does it for me. Moi is unbelievable. I hope I can show some of these skills as well because they’re part of my style of play.”
We’re hopeful that Lavia can stay fit and start to show the world just how good he can be. As for Caicedo, he’s proven in the last 12 months that he’s on the brink of being a world-class defensive midfielder.
The aggression and tenacity that Caicedo shows without possession to win the ball is a trademark of his game. He’s also very useful when he has the football, too.
Levi Colwill’s prediction on Caicedo is that he’s definitely on his way to becoming one of the world’s elite midfielders.
It’s no surprise that Chelsea view Caicedo as ‘unsellable’ because of his growth into a sensational player. The great news for Blues supporters is that he’s under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031.

Moises Caicedo is a midfield destroyer
During the 2024/25 Premier League season, Chelsea’s Caicedo was a big reason why his side finished fourth and secured Champions League qualification.
The Ecuador international is a bit of a throwback to Chelsea great N’Golo Kante with the way he covers ground and wins back possession. It certainly makes sense that Caicedo idolised Kante when he was younger.

The Blues have some incredible depth in the centre of the park with the likes of Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, Dario Essugo and Andrey Santos. However, it’s obvious that Caicedo is the benchmark for every midfielder in the Chelsea squad.
