Of Chelsea’s representatives at the World Cup, few have a better chance of winning the whole thing than Malo Gusto’s France.
The tournament gets underway today, and France go in to the competition as one of the favourites off the back of a dominant win over Northern Ireland.
Gusto impressed with an assist for Michael Olise in this game after he was brought on at half-time to replace former Chelsea target Jules Kounde.

Mamadou Sarr is being slept on…
Malo Gusto handed chance to start at World Cup after Jules Kounde injury
The Blues defender showed some impressive link-up play with the Bayern Munich attacker, who looks set to be one of the key players of this tournament just three years after he looked Chelsea-bound in the transfer market.
Despite changes being regular in these warmup games, this one was not a planned tactical shift. It has since emerged via L’Equipe that Kounde picked up a muscle injury in that game.

The Barcelona man is believed to be okay, but there will surely now be a desire to protect him for the first game of the tournament.
This gives Gusto, the other recognised right-back in the side, a fantastic opportunity to start the first game, where he will come up against familiar opposition.
Anthony Gordon starred for England against Costa Rica but is no longer an option for Chelsea. Which left winger should we now sign? 🤔
Gusto in line to face Chelsea teammates at the World Cup
Despite plenty of Chelsea players being present at the World Cup, only a handful of them are in line to face each other at the World Cup.
This will happen when France get their tournament underway against Senegal, who have Mamadou Sarr and Nicolas Jackson in their ranks.
Jackson is under pressure to deliver in this competition as he looks to play for his future, whether that be at Stamford Bridge or another club.
His preparation hasn’t gone to plan so far, picking up a red card in Senegal’s last game before the tournament gets underway.
