Chris Sutton has made his pre-match prediction ahead of today’s game between Luton Town and Chelsea.
Luton host Chelsea on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, which is the final fixture of 2023 for both clubs.
Rob Edwards’ Luton side are only a point away from safety after recording back-to-back wins in their last two league matches.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team are underachieving and sit 10th in the division table.

Chelsea vs Luton prediction
BBC pundit Chris Sutton has tipped a draw at Kenilworth Road between Luton and Chelsea.
“Luton are in the relegation zone, but they have an identity and a cause and they always look like they are excited about playing in the Premier League. I am not sure you can say the same about Chelsea, for all the money they spent in the summer transfer window,” Sutton told BBC Sport.
“Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino named the club’s youngest Premier League team in Wednesday’s win over Crystal Palace, which came courtesy of a debatable late penalty. I’m not sure they deserved it, but at least it meant I got one of my predictions about them right for a change.
“I was tempted to go with another Chelsea win this time too, because I don’t think the Hatters can keep their intensity going after such a busy Christmas period, but I am going to go with a draw.
“Sutton’s prediction: 1-1.”
The Blues put in one of their most convincing performances of the season in the reverse fixture against Luton, beating them 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. However, this will be a very different assignment away from home against a team now more settled in the top division.
Speaking via Chelsea’s YouTube channel yesterday, Pochettino confirmed that Blues attacker Mykhailo Mudryk faces a late fitness test before the Luton contest.
Hopefully, the in-form winger is available and ready to start on Saturday.
One relief for the manager is that he’s now got plenty of talented individuals to pick from in his frontline. They all need to find their shooting boots, though.
