Fabrizio Romano has claimed that all parties are confident that Mason Mount will sign a new contract with Chelsea.
The club are looking to finalise the situation in a similar style to how they did with Reece James.
The full-back committed his long-term future to the Blues earlier this season, seemingly putting an end to any interest in his services from Europe’s elite clubs.
Chelsea will no doubt want that to be the case with Mount. The quality he has shown over the last few years for club and country will no doubt have clubs queuing up if he ever became available.
Despite a tough start to the season, things are beginning to turn around this season for the Englishman under Graham Potter.
Romano has now claimed that the Blues see tying down Mount as a priority, and are confident that things will be secured soon.
Chelsea confident of new Mount deal
He said: “Chelsea are working on Mason Mount new deal as next priority after Reece James. ‘I’ve no doubt about Mason Mount’, Graham Potter said last week and the feeling is the same into the club.
“Agreement not sealed yet but all parties feel confident.”
Mount’s upturn in form since the hiring of new manager Potter will be of great relief to some of the Stamford Bridge faithful who were worried about his start to the campaign.
Things in general have been very strong since the former Brighton man took the reins in West London.
Back-to-back 3-0 wins in different competitions with very different line-ups are undoubtedly a great sign, and fans will only be expecting more as the players make the trip to Italy for the Champions League clash against AC Milan.
Mount is likely to be an essential part of the team for that one, with him being a near ever-present so far for Potter.
