AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has told Somtosport that he believes Chelsea defender Reece James is the best he’s faced so far in his career.

The England international enjoyed one of the best performances of his career as the Blues cruised to a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

As well as scoring and assisting, the 22-year-old dealt resolutely with the tricky hand he was dealt in terms of his direct opposition.

With many thinking Leao was out to impress, he showed glimpses of why Chelsea are reportedly interested in launching a club-record move for his services.

However, it was James who came out on top overall, inspiring his team to a crucial victory in the Champions League.

After the game, Leao has acknowledged the performance of the Englishman, offering high praise to his work at both ends of the pitch.

Leao amazed by James

He said: “James is a good player, he was all over me and everywhere at the same time, he timed his runs very fine.

“I hardly talk about opposing players but this guy is actually the toughest I have faced I think. He scored a goal too against us and that’s something you don’t get from every defender.”

James’ performance certainly didn’t go unnoticed in the media. Many pundits were also quick to rave about his talents in both attack and defence.

However, the Blues man will know the job is only half done, with the reverse fixture at San Siro just four days away.

Leao is certain to come back with a vengeance, after Milan dropped out of the top two of the group temporarily after the loss at Stamford Bridge.

James meanwhile will just be looking to maintain his form in tomorrow’s game against Wolves, where the Blues can move into the top four.
