Chelsea matchwinner Conor Gallagher has now taken to social media to send a message to Enzo Fernandez after their victory last night against Leeds United.

He took to Instagram to comment his praise on the World Cup winner’s post-game social media post.

Gallagher came off the bench to score what turned out to be the winner for the Blues, in a game that certainly lifted a bit of tension inside Stamford Bridge.

The end result perhaps does not tell the full story of the 90 minutes, with their Championship opponents on top for a large period of the second half in particular.

It took a number of the Blues’ big players stepping up late on to book their place in the quarter-finals, and as well as Gallagher it was Fernandez who made a difference in the final moments.

His driving run as well as incisive pass for the England international was just a reminder of his quality, and helped lift some pressure off the young Chelsea squad’s shoulders.

Gallagher praises Fernandez

Gallagher was quick to take to social media to praise the Argentine, commenting a handshake emoji as well as a blue heart.

The duo have proven that they are pretty much undroppable from the starting side at this point, with Mauricio Pochettino hinting that he has very few options available to rotate with in central midfield.

Last night did see Gallagher in particular get an opportunity to be rested, with Mykhailo Mudryk featuring in the number 10 role.

It was one of his most impressive performances in recent memory though, with him marking it with a well-taken goal in the first half.

The Ukraine international will be hoping that the fact he has shown some versatility now suggests that he will be able to play more games for the club from now on.
