I saw Mauricio Pochettino make one brilliant decision which may have saved his Chelsea job last night

Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt have been feeling the pressure at multiple points of last night’s thrilling FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea beat Leeds United 3-2 in the Round of 16, booking their place in the quarter-finals where they will take on Leicester City at home.

The result hardly tells the story of the evening though for Pochettino in West London, particularly in the second half.

The Blues for the majority of that time were actually under the cosh, with their opponents threatening an upset that would have caused who knows what kind of reaction.

After rotating slightly from the EFL Cup final defeat against Liverpool at the weekend, he looked to his bench and some of his big guns to make a change in the latter stages.

One of those he brought on was Conor Gallagher, who was struggling badly with fatigue at Wembley on Sunday.

However, any signs of that were gone as he took the ball brilliantly on the half turn from an Enzo Fernandez pass, before firing a finish into the corner as the game approached its final seconds.

The decision to bring him on paid off for Pochettino, who may well have bought himself more time at the helm at Stamford Bridge.

There had been reports off the back of the defeat at Wembley that some at the club had begun to look at a number of other options to potentially become the boss in the coming weeks or months.

The likes of Ruben Amorim have been frequently mentioned as those with potential to take over, however the Argentine proved with his decision making last night that there is still life in him at the club just yet.
