Conor Gallagher completed a move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid over the summer.
It has not taken long for Conor Gallagher to settle in Madrid, with the midfielder recently scoring his first goal for Diego Simeone’s side.
Gallagher netted in Atletico’s 3-0 win against Valencia, and his new team are currently second in the La Liga table. So things are going well for him in Spain.
While Gallagher left Chelsea for Atletico, Joao Felix moved in the opposite direction. Felix’s transfer was reviewed by La Liga, according to the division’s president Javier Tebas.

Conor Gallagher feels wanted at Atletico Madrid
Towards the end of his Chelsea career, Gallagher probably felt unwanted or at least undervalued.
There were constant rumours about Chelsea’s owners being open to selling him as they tried to balance the club’s financial books.
At Atletico, though, it is a different felling, with the 24-year-old stating that he feels appreciated by supporters and the club.
In an interview with The Athletic, Gallagher said: “I’ve felt very wanted and appreciated, which is important for any footballer.
“Chelsea are a huge football club, one of the biggest in the world, along with Atletico. But I have taken that exciting step of playing Champions League football and challenging for trophies. It just builds me with even more confidence and happiness to play my best football.”
After his goal against Valencia, WhoScored named Gallagher in their La Liga Team of the Week.
Will Chelsea regret selling Conor Gallagher?
Chelsea have so many quality midfield options that Enzo Maresca will not be losing sleep over Gallagher’s departure.
That being said, Romeo Lavia cannot stay fit, while there really is not too much of a difference between Gallagher and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Both players are box-to-box midfielders, so you cannot help but feel that Chelsea would have been better off keeping the former and not spending money on the latter.
Chelsea can reach their objectives without Gallagher, though. Maresca has a strong squad with a lot of good attacking options.
Simply put, everyone will quickly move on, if they have not already, especially if Dewsbury-Hall delivers.
As for Gallagher, joining Atletico was a great career move. They are one of the top teams in Spain and Champions League regulars. He can be more than happy with his switch there.
