Frank Leboeuf would love Chelsea to go and sign highly-rated goalkeeper Mike Maignan from AC Milan this summer.

Mike Maignan, who’s recently stepped into the role as France’s first-choice keeper, is a player whose reputation continues to soar.

The 27-year-old gloveman had to deal with an injury-hit season last year at AC Milan, but he still kept 10 clean sheets in his 29 appearances across all competitions.

If you’re looking for a goalkeeper with a huge physical presence but also quality with the ball at his feet, look no further than Maignan.

Former Blues defender Leboeuf believes that Maignan is the type of top-quality goalkeeper Chelsea needs to bring to Stamford Bridge.

“Mike Maignan from AC Milan has been linked to Chelsea this week, and he is certainly one player who can stop the goals. Maignan is a crazy good goalkeeper,” Leboeuf said.

“Chelsea should definitely get Maignan if we can’t get [Andre] Onana. If you can’t get Maignan, you have to get Onana. For me they are the two targets you have to go for.”

Chelsea rumours

In fairness, Maignan is mentioned in the transfer rumour mill as a Chelsea target.

The Telegraph recently claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s side is considering a move for AC Milan star Maignan. However, the new Chelsea head coach is prepared to start begin season with Kepa Arrizabalaga starting in-between the sticks.

Elsewhere, journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Maignan is likely to cost in excess of €85million (£73million) this summer amid Chelsea interest.

In our view, Milan currently own one of the very best goalkeepers in the world. We are in the same boat that we would love to see him at Chelsea!
