Chelsea have made a bright start to the season, impressing in both the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
On Tuesday night, Chelsea beat Barrow 5-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Before that, they also defeated West Ham United 3-0 in the Premier League.
The Blues have put six past Wolverhampton Wanderers as well, so Enzo Maresca will be pleased with how things are going right now.
He is happy with his players, with Maresca applauding Christopher Nkunku’s effort off the ball against Barrow, for example. After this impressive start that Chelsea have made to the season, Darren Bent has now been discussing whether they can actually win the title.

Darren Bent talks Chelsea’s title chances this and next season
For Bent, a title challenge will come too soon for Chelsea in the current campaign.
However, next season, the former Premier League striker thinks it is possible. Speaking on talkSPORT (24/09/2024 at 16:13), he said: “Not yet. I don’t think. Because they have not been there for a while.
“Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have been fighting it out for a little bit of time. Certainly, if they finish in the top four this season comfortably, playing well, then next season for sure.”
It is early days, and Chelsea’s recent 5-0 victory came against a League Two side. They cannot get carried away.
In fact, Nkunku has already warned the team to remain focused. Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.

This is still a very young and inexperienced Chelsea team and the one elite side they have faced this season, City, Maresca’s men lost.
Ultimately, the highest the Blues can probably hope to finish is third. The following season, you may then get to see them really compete for the Premier League crown.
But at this moment in time, there are still a lot of ifs and buts. After a couple of disappointing campaigns, though, Chelsea fans would take third place right now if they could.
