David Seaman has shared he’s got mixed opinions on the quality of Chelsea’s £25m player.
It’s been a fairly positive start at Stamford Bridge during the opening months of the season, but there may still be a few question marks around certain Chelsea individuals.
In fairness, Enzo Maresca has shown real faith as the Blues manager in a core group of players to start every Premier League game. Meanwhile, he’s used the cup competitions to rest and rotate heavily.
If there’s an area of concern for the Blues right now, perhaps they’re conceding too many goals. So far, they’ve let in 10 goals in eight league matches this season.
Speaking recently via Match of the Day 2, Rafael Benitez questioned Chelsea’s defending.

David Seaman verdict on Robert Sanchez
According to former Premier League star David Seaman, Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez is guilty of being “inconsistent”. He thinks that the £25m Blues goalkeeper (BBC) can go from hero to zero very quickly with how he plays.
When discussing Sanchez on the ‘Seaman Says’ podcast, Seaman said: “He gets a bit of stick because he’s a little bit inconsistent. He can make great saves, and then he’ll make a real mess…
“Sometimes his mistakes are really bad. Some decisions that he makes, sometimes coming out for crosses that aren’t his. But he still makes match-winning saves.”
Enzo Maresca may have to make a tough decision soon
If Sanchez continues to provide shaky moments in-between the sticks, Maresca may need to make the harsh decision to drop him from the starting XI.
The 26-year-old keeper has been granted the opportunity this campaign to reclaim the number one position for the Blues, but there’s already a catalogue of individual errors that his critics can point towards.
Speaking recently via BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Nigel Reo-Coker said Sanchez can be a “liability” in Chelsea’s goal. He suggested that the Spanish shot-stopper can sometimes lose concentration as well.
