Enzo Maresca has reacted to the news that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea confirmed on Friday that Nicolas Jackson, 23, has signed a two-year extension to his deal in west London. As a result, the centre-forward is under contract with the Blues until 2033, the same as teammate Cole Palmer.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Chelsea believe Jackson is worth a lot more than the £32m he cost.
Jackson is certainly the most senior No.9 in the Blues squad when you look at the options. Alternatively, there’s 18-year-old prospect Marc Guiu as cover. Christopher Nkunku or Joao Felix are versatile attackers that could possibly lead the line, too.

Enzo Maresca on Nicolas Jackson
Enzo Maresca is delighted to see Jackson has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club.
Interestingly, the Chelsea head coach has made the claim that the young striker is always guaranteed to score goals for his side. He’s started off the new campaign with two goals from his opening three league matches.
When asked about Jackson’s new contract, Maresca said via Football.London: “Very happy. First of all because he is doing very well. Since I joined the club, he is working hard off the ball and on the ball.
“He is the kind of player that will always score goals. With us, in the first three Premier League games, he already gave some assists, he has scored goals. Very happy for Nico and also for us.”
What is Chelsea’s strongest attack?
We’ll see in the coming weeks what Maresca prefers as his attacking line-up, although there should be plenty of room to rotate with cup competitions alongside the league.
We’d guess that Jackson as the central striker and Cole Palmer just behind as a No.10 is non-negotiable as starters. However, the wide areas feels a bit more up for grabs with so many impressive options.
As it stands, we feel Pedro Neto on the left wing and Noni Madueke on the right makes up the best attacking quartet. However, you’re missing out the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk.
