Enzo Maresca has been unsure all week who he is going to be shaking hands with when he arrives at Old Trafford for Chelsea’s Premier League game with Manchester United.

The Blues’ game against United got a lot tougher when Erik ten Hag was sacked on Monday, as they prepare to come up against a home crowd desperate to enter a new era.

While it was expected Ruben Amorim would be in charge in time to face Chelsea, the club have announced he will take over official duties later this month.

It will be Ruud van Nistelrooy taking the reigns for the second time against the Blues. Maresca admitted he had been watching PSV footage this week in preperation.

Enzo Maresca wishes Ruben Amorim luck at Manchester United

With the excitement from United fans about their new boss, it was predictable that Maresca would be asked about it in his pre-match press conference.

The Italian wished the young manager luck in his job in Manchester.

He told Football London: “All the best to him. If the people in charge took that decision, they think it’s the correct one. All the best to him and Man United.”

Amorim was a name linked with the job at Stamford Bridge on a number of occassions before the higher ups at the club settled on the former Leicester City boss.

Maresca looking to prove point at Old Trafford

Maresca will likely be looking to prove that he was the right man for the job when they make the trip to Old Trafford. He is still looking for his first big name scalp since taking over the club.

It looks as if the Blues have a near clean bill of health again going into the big game, with only Jadon Sancho not available for selection.

The winger has been suffering with illness this week, and also would not have been eligible to play with the game coming against his parent club.
