Enzo Maresca is blessed with so many options at Chelsea after a busy summer transfer window, but it’s one of the signings from 2022 that is catching the eye this season.
Chelsea fans are finally seeing things come together at Stamford Bridge after a number of disappointing seasons.
But, they face one of their toughest challenges yet up next in the Premier League in the form of Brighton and Hove Albion.
Similar to Enzo Maresca, Fabian Hurzeler likes to play an attacking brand of football which involves a high press and full-backs getting forward to support the attack.
It has the makings of a really exciting games, which could see Chelsea’s run of not conceding a goal come to an end.
However, one player will have a massive say on the clean sheet front, and the Chelsea boss has been praising him in his press conference.

Enzo Maresca admits Marc Cucurella has made his teammates better this season
Renato Veiga has already shared how highly he rates Marc Cucurella, saying ‘what a guy’ and ‘what a player’ when asked about him.
Cucurella has been the primary left-back for Chelsea so far this season having started all five Premier League games, and Ben Chilwell’s situation has certainly helped with that.
The Spaniard won’t complain as he’s taken full advantage of the opportunity in front of him after a very successful summer with Spain at the Euros.
Interestingly, when speaking in his pre-Brighton press conference (as per Football London), Enzo Maresca spoke about just how special the defender really is.
“Marc is very important. Marc has something you sometimes struggle to find in other players. He is good and is making the players around him better.
“If you have five, six or seven players like Marc in a team, it is very important.”
Is Ben Chilwell a worry for Cucurella?
Ben Chilwell found himself out of the senior squad during the summer.
But, a dramatic twist over the last week or so at Chelsea has seen Chilwell reintroduced into things with Enzo Maresca apologising for his treatment of the player.
The Englishman is a valuable player to have in your squad, with the experience and quality to slot into the left-back position when called upon.
However, with him being short on game time and Renato Veiga also at the club, perhaps Maresca will wait for him to build his match readiness up before letting the three of them battle each other.
