Enzo Maresca says he’s just had a meeting with one Chelsea first-team player to express his delight with him so far this season.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca watched his side put down an early marker at the weekend with an emphatic 6-2 away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. Hopefully, it’s a sign of much more to come under the new Italian manager.
The Blues are busy on the pitch with plenty of matches, including on Thursday night when they play the second leg away to Servette in the Conference League play-off tie. They’ve travelled to Switzerland with a 2-0 aggregate lead to defend.

Meanwhile, the chaos continues off the pitch with all the transfers, both in and out of Stamford Bridge.
Maresca’s side are currently linked with signing a new No.9 in the final two days of the window.
Gianclua Di Marzio reports that Chelsea’s offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is currently too low. Elsewhere, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol claimed via X that Chelsea have made a move to sign Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
What must Blues frontman Nicolas Jackson be thinking when he sees the club linked with high-profile stars in his position?

Enzo Maresca hails Nicolas Jackson
Maresca has insisted that Chelsea are delighted with Jackson despite the transfer rumours linking them with a new attacker. In fact, he’s had a very positive conversation with the £32m striker (The Guardian) this week.
When asked if he’s spoken to Jackson amid links with Osimhen and Toney, Maresca said via Football.London: “I didn’t chat with Nicolas about this, to be honest. I had a meeting with Nicolas yesterday but just about the good things; the amount of good things he is doing with us on the pitch.
“Also, I don’t think Nicolas needs a chat. He is our nine. He is our striker at this moment. We are very happy with him. The reason why I sat with him yesterday is because I wanted to say how many good things he has done with us since we started, so we are very happy with Nicolas. At the moment, that is the only thing we can say.”
Nicolas Jackson is key for Chelsea
Even if Chelsea do add a marquee striker before Friday’s deadline, Jackson should still have a big season ahead of him.
The 23-year-old attacker has the qualities to build upon a decent debut campaign with the Blues last year, where he scored 17 goals across all competitions. He got off the mark this season with a goal and assist during Sunday’s demolition of Wolves.
Journalist Matt Law reported via X earlier in August that Chelsea would like to give Jackson a contract extension, which is a sign of the faith they have in him.
