Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has fired a warning to one of his players that he’s got to keep his form up after a really encouraging start to the season.
Enzo Maresca, 44, is certainly growing into his role as the Blues manager following his appointment in the summer.
The Italian coach will still be learning all about the Chelsea squad off the pitch. In terms of results on the pitch, his side had a mixed start in the opening three Premier League matches before the first international break of the season.

It’s been claimed by ESPN that Maresca has been set the target of qualifying for the Champions League during his debut year at Stamford Bridge. Let’s hope the team can put together a winning run following the return of domestic football, starting with a trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Enzo Maresca message for Noni Madueke
The biggest winner so far since Maresca’s arrival at Chelsea might be Noni Madueke, who’s had quite a memorable start to the campaign.
Madueke has scored four goals in four appearances for the Blues. On top of that, the 22-year-old winger made his senior England debut during the September international break.
Chelsea boss Maresca has just delivered a very interesting bit of management by urging Madueke to stay grounded and to not let his high levels dip, though.
“It’s a big achievement for all the players to join their international team, especially for Noni,” Maresca told Chelsea’s official website.
“We feel very happy for him. He is doing well. The only thing he has to do is not drop a little bit, otherwise it’s no good for him and he is going to lose all the good things he has done until now. He has to continue to work well, in the proper way.
“Most of the time our wingers have the chance to be one-v-one ten times during the game. For every winger it’s a dream come true to play forward and have the chance to go one-v-one. We allow them during the game to go one-v-one at different times.
“The best one for us in this moment has been Noni. In pre-season he scored different goals, created different chances. Every time he received the ball he can go one-v-one. Noni is doing fantastic, but all our wingers are working well.”
Noni Madueke is excelling
As mentioned above by Marseca, Chelsea’s system means the wide players get plenty of opportunities in games to dribble at opposition players. Therefore, it’s no real surprise that Madueke is enjoying the new style because it suits his game.
The England international has shown he’s a highly technical footballer since he arrived at the club 20 months ago, but the obvious thing missing has been consistency and end product.
At the age of 22, Madueke isn’t going to be perfect at all times. But it feels like this could be a huge season for him under Maresca if he listens closely and works hard.
