Defensively, Chelsea have not been at their best this season, already conceding five goals in the Premier League.

Manchester City put two past Chelsea in their opening game before Wolverhampton Wanderers did the same a week later.

Before the international break, Crystal Palace also managed to score a goal against Enzo Maresca‘s men.

In means they have conceded five goals in just three top-flight outings. However, going forward, Chelsea have really impressed at times.

Chelsea’s shot accuracy

While Chelsea have conceded five goals in the Premier League so far this season, they have managed to net on seven occasions, putting six past Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Had Nicolas Jackson been a bit more clinical in the games versus Palace and City, that number would probably be higher.

Nevertheless, Chelsea’s shooting has still been good this term. According to WhoScored, they actually have the highest shot accuracy in the division (48.6%).

It is a good sign, given that they have a new manager in charge at Stamford Bridge. Simply put, it looks like Maresca is already getting his idea of football across to his players.

And his attack could get even better following the arrival of Jadon Sancho. The winger joined Maresca’s side on deadline day, and it has been claimed that Sancho is already impressing staff at Chelsea.

Still room for improvement

Chelsea’s attack is really starting to click, and you could see that from Jackson, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke’s combination play just before the international break.

However, considering that the team did not score against City and struggled to break down Palace, there is obviously a long way to go before you can say Chelsea have the best attack in the country.

On paper, it looks very good, especially with the additions of Sancho and Pedro Neto, for example. Neto was taken off at half-time in Portugal’s 2-1 win against Scotland on Sunday, so he managed to get some rest ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend.

But it is an attack that can still definitely develop more of a clinical edge, which may be necessary for Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League this season.
