Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal for yet another first team signing in this summer transfer window.

It has been claimed that Samu Omorodion is close to joining the club, after a domino effect that has already seen Conor Gallagher join up with his new teammates at Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard is currently representing his nation at the Olympics, however Omorodion has reportedly already completed his medical ahead of the deal.

Chelsea supporters have not been left too convinced the signing is what they need at the moment, given they already have a number of strikers who are more potential rather than proven ability.

However, there have been some positive comments about the young striker’s game, and even comparisons to a former Chelsea star.

Omorodion compared to Diego Costa

ESPN Pundit Mario Suarez has claimed that he reminds him of Diego Costa when he was learning his trade at Atletico.

He said to ESPN FC: “I think he looks like a little bit of Diego Costa when he was young. Big & strong, running for the space, scoring goals.”

Many Chelsea fans will be of the belief that they have not had a real top level striker at the club since Costa departed.

His former coaches were huge fans of his. Jose Mourinho previously described him as ‘fantastic’.

Nicolas Jackson still number one striker

It remains to be seen how long it takes for Omorodion to establish himself as a regular In the first team, with Nicolas Jackson surely backing himself to begin the season up top.

With that said, the Senegal international is yet to play a minute of pre-season after an injury suffered earlier this summer.

In his absence, new signing Marc Guiu has been starting nearly ever game of the tour of the United States, and has impressed with the minutes he has been given.

However, there is now doubt over whether his immediate future is at Stamford Bridge after the big-money addition of Omorodion.
