Chelsea players were clearly thrilled at full-time with their hard-fought victory yesterday against Newcastle United.

The Blues ran out 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge, with Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer finding the net either side of a Alexander Isak strike.

Palmer wowed pundits with his part in the opening goal too, producing one of the best passes of the season to set the attack in motion.

It was Pedro Neto who was on hand to provide the assist for Jackson, with his perfect left-footed cross matching his electric pace which saw him beat the oncoming defender.

ESPN pundit wowed by Pedro Neto’s left foot

The Portugal international has found Premier League starts hard to come by this season, however his good form in the cup competitions was rewarded with one yesterday.

While it was on his unpreferred left-wing, Chelsea fans were very impressed by Neto and the impact he made on the side.

ESPN pundit Luis Miguel Echegaray was wowed by the performance of Neto, explaining that he was exactly what the Blues needed.

He said: “Pedro Neto brings a little bit of swagger and impetus when it comes to his vision. My God, what a left foot. He’s very good at knowing what to do and when to do it. He’s just so good at creating headaches on that left-hand side. Chelsea needed that.”

Has Neto displaced Jadon Sancho from Chelsea starting XI?

Jadon Sancho had seemed to establish himself as the first choice option on the left of attack for Chelsea, however he was nowhere to be seen yesterday.

Neto impressed more than Sancho after replacing him against Liverpool, and seemed to make his mark on Maresca in the process.

There is also the improving Mykhailo Mudryk as an option on that side, with him off the high of a brilliant performance in Europe during last week.

It will be interesting to see which combination of wingers the manager selects when the Blues take on the same opposition in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
