Chelsea are reportedly very close to completing yet another player to go straight into the first team picture ahead of next season.

The Blues have already made a number of additions with the intention of strengthening their squad for both the present and the future.

The standout addition so far is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has settled in well after working closely with Enzo Maresca at Leicester last season.

Tosin Adarabioyo has impressed coaches a lot since he made the move to Chelsea on a free, and he will no doubt be pushing for a place in the side that faces Manchester City on the first day of the season.

A goalkeeper has frequently been mentioned as a signing they would still like to make though, with the name of Filip Jorgensen constantly being mentioned.

Chelsea really close to signing Filip Jorgensen

It was reported that personal terms had already been agreed between the club and the player, and a fee was just waiting to be secured.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has updated Chelsea fans by saying that they were in the final stages of doing just that.

He said: “Chelsea are closing in on Filip Jørgensen deal, as agreement with Villarreal is at final stages.

“Chelsea have improved their proposal after initial bid worth €20m and they’re just discussing deal structure with Villarreal. Jørgensen has already agreed on contract.”

Doubts over Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic

A new goalkeeper coming in will throw the future up in the air for the two first team options that are currently at the club.

Maresca said he was impressed by Robert Sanchez in the first pre-season friendly. Many believed he would actually be starting the season.

This comes off the back of reported doubts over Petrovic’s ability, particularly with the ball at his feet, something which will be crucial in their new system.

With the number of goalkeeper signings being made by the club in the last few years alone, it remains to be seen whether this one will finally be the one they feel they have gotten right.
