Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea not looking to replace 22-year-old, they have so much faith in him

Chelsea are still confident that Mykhailo Mudryk has a big future at the club as a winger.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea are being linked with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose potential arrival at Stamford Bridge could block Mykhailo Mudryk‘s pathway into the starting XI. But Romano has reported on Substack that they currently do not have any plans to sign a new winger.

The Italian journalist has claimed that “they still believe” the 22-year-old will be an important wide man for them in the future and have not decided to strengthen in his position as things stand.

Mudryk has found it difficult at Chelsea, with one coach from his former club Shakhtar Donetsk putting it down to the Blues not playing like a team, but he has picked up a bit recently. After failing to score for the club at all last season, he has already managed to net twice this term.

Too early to start thinking about replacing Mykhailo Mudryk

While Mudryk has largely struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge, the Ukrainian has not been there for too long.

We think he needs to be given a bit more time before Chelsea consider bringing in someone to replace him.

With that being said, someone like Kvaratskhelia may prove to be too good of an opportunity to turn down. He was excellent for Napoli last term, coming up with 22 goal contributions in Serie A to help his side win the title.

But if it is not a player of that level who Chelsea are going to bring in, then Mauricio Pochettino is better off trying to develop Mudryk, whom the club obviously spent a lot of money on.

Ultimately, then, while the Blues should continue to put their faith in such a big investment, there is nothing wrong with keeping their options open if an amazing opportunity presents itself.
