Chelsea’s record at Old Trafford recently has been pretty poor, so perhaps their 1-1 draw away to Manchester United on the weekend wasn’t a bad result.
Chelsea picked up a point on the road during Sunday’s draw at Man United in the Premier League. As a result, the Blues still haven’t won a league match at Old Trafford since 2013.
Enzo Maresca’s side were heading for a defeat in Manchester before Moises Caicedo, 23, equalised with a stunning volley from outside the box at the weekend.
Troy Deeney said Caicedo had his best Chelsea game versus Man United. While that may be up for debate, there’s no doubt that the all-action central midfielder was fantastic as he continued his recent form.

Moises Caicedo joined by Wesley Fofana in Premier League Team of the Week
Chelsea were miles from their best in the underwhelming draw against Man United, but some individuals still managed to impress.
WhoScored’s weekly segment recognises the Premier League’s best players from the latest round of top-flight fixtures. Interestingly, Blues centre-back Wesley Fofana and teammate Caicedo both earned inclusions in the Team of the Week.
Speaking after the weekend’s result, Robbie Mustoe claimed Chelsea’s Fofana has the potential to be “world-class”. The 23-year-old defender has cemented his spot as a key starter in Maresca’s back four next to Levi Colwill, but he’s got to prove fitness and consistency after a challenging couple of years at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca has called Chelsea star Fofana “fantastic” this season for the way he’s performing after long-term injury layouts.
Chelsea duo Wesley Fofana and Moises Caicedo statistics vs Manchester United
Chelsea’s free-scoring attack couldn’t find their shooting boots at Old Trafford a couple of days ago, but some of their more defensive teammates caught the eye with their work.
Here is a look at the WhoScored data for Caicedo and Fofana from the Man United draw:
| Player | Match rating | Touches | Passes | Passing accuracy | Tackles | Interceptions | Clearances |
| Moises Caicedo | 7.95 | 61 | 44 | 84.1% | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| Wesley Fofana | 7.5 | 76 | 58 | 84.5% | 3 | 2 | 6 |
There’s an argument to be made that Chelsea’s starting XI is looking as strong as it’s been in the last few years. It’s a credit to Maresca for quickly gelling this young group together during his opening months in the manager’s dugout.
