Despite not being at Chelsea for long, Mauricio Pochettino proved to be quite a popular figure at the club.

Early in the summer, it was reported that some Chelsea players were already missing Mauricio Pochettino following his departure in May.

However, not everyone was a fan of the 52-year-old, who is now coaching the USA national team.

One player who was not happy with how Pochettino treated him has been speaking about the Argentine and his own time at Chelsea.

Malang Sarr slams Mauricio Pochettino

Malang Sarr had a torrid time at Chelsea. He spent four years at the club in total but only went on to make 21 appearances in blue.

He became a forgotten man, quite literally, with Pochettino having no idea who he was after his name was brought up in a press conference.

Pochettino had truly humiliated Sarr that day, and it was a moment that left the defender fuming.

“I took it badly,” Sarr told L’Equipe. “It shouldn’t have happened. He knew me. He even tried to sign me at Tottenham. I didn’t ask for an explanation.”

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has claimed that he still has “no regrets” about signing for Chelsea.

Who else wasn’t happy under Mauricio Pochettino?

Understandably, Cesare Casadei was also frustrated with life under Pochettino.

The midfielder initially started the 2023/24 season on loan at Leicester City, working under Chelsea’s current manager Enzo Maresca.

However, he was recalled in the January transfer window, only to play 71 minutes in the Premier League.

“I wasn’t very happy,” Casadei said about his time under Pochettino. “Everyone would like to play a bit more.”

This season, things have not really changed for him either. The 21-year-old is yet to make a single appearance in the top flight.

Like Sarr, then, the Italian will probably leave Chelsea at some point. With the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez around, he is never going to play.

At least Maresca has acknowledged his existence, though, having spoken to the media about the former Inter Milan player this season. He has also given him game time in both the Conference League and Carabao Cup.
