Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has a message for one Blues player after his side’s recent defeat to Liverpool.
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield over the weekend, though it could have been a different score if the visitors were awarded a penalty.
Dermot Gallagher thinks the right call was made in the end, but Jadon Sancho was clearly taken out by Trent Alexander-Arnold in the box.
Enzo Maresca‘s men only have themselves to blame, though, after some poor defending. And Leboeuf is now desperate for one Chelsea star to change his style.

Frank Leboeuf’s message to Robert Sanchez
Robert Sanchez came in for a lot of criticism after the game, with some feeling that he should have done better for Liverpool’s second goal.
“Chelsea need a goalkeeper if they are going to challenge next season,” were the words of Jamie Carragher when discussing Sanchez.
Leboeuf was not as critical as Carragher. However, the Chelsea legend is now urging Sanchez to refrain from trying to play out from the back.
Speaking on ESPN FC, he said: “As long as Sanchez stops trying to play football when they give him the ball, he’s fine because he’s made good saves since the beginning of the season.
“But he put himself in danger and I don’t know what his teammates are doing giving him the ball back and putting him in danger and forcing him to try to play.”
Robert Sanchez will not change
Chelsea have only played eight games in the Premier League this season, but Sanchez has already proven that his passing is not good enough.
There is no denying that Sanchez is a good shot-stopper. As per FBref, the 26-year-old has a save percentage of 80% in the Premier League this season, putting him in the top five goalkeepers for that statistic.
However, his distribution is unreliable and puts Chelsea in a lot of trouble at times. That was evident to see against Liverpool after he gave the ball straight to a player in a red shirt on more than one occasion.
It makes sense for Sanchez to go long, then, but that is rarely going to happen under a modern-day coach like Maresca who wants his side to retain possession. Ultimately, if anyone is hoping to see the £25m Spaniard change his game, then they are going to be left disappointed.
