Chelsea star Cole Palmer has taken plenty of the acclaim after the Blues recorded their first Premier League home win of the season.

The Blues beat Brighton 4-2 at the weekend, with Palmer scoring all four in a sensational first half where the best and worst of the hosts was on display.

The position Enzo Maresca has the England international playing is seeming to get the best out of him and his teammates around him.

The relationship he has formed with Nicolas Jackson has been well-documented, however the way he worked with Jadon Sancho was praised at the weekend.

Palmer saw comparisons to Dennis Bergkamp come his way after his brilliance at the weekend, with his elegance in possession something that has really stuck with pundits.

Lineker can see Palmer and Bergkamp comparisons

Gary Lineker has claimed he can see the similarities between the two players, while praising Palmer for being the full package.

He said to The Rest is Football: “I see there are similarities there in the way he glides across the pitch, his vision, his skill, his finishing. What a talent! He just seems to be completely fearless as well. It just seems water off a duck’s back, however big the game or anything like that. And the free kick – wow!

“It’s not just the goals, is it? It’s the little passes, the little sideways, he can kick long balls, he can hit through ball, he has got the lot.”

Palmer tipped for the Ballon d’Or

Despite all the attacking options that Maresca has at his disposal right now, Palmer has made himself one of the first names on the teamsheet at this stage.

Pundit Andy Goldstein has tipped him to become a Ballon d’Or winner in the near future, with it seeming like the sky is the limit right now for the England international.

He will be able to get his well-deserved rest on Thursday too, with him not being available for selection for the group stages of the Conference League.
