Ian Wright has delivered glowing praise on Chelsea’s Cole Palmer after his recent heroics at the weekend.
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after the latest round of fixtures. For the Blues, they collected another three points on Saturday with a memorable 4-2 home win over Brighton.
Cole Palmer, 22, stunned everyone inside Stamford Bridge by scoring four goals himself versus Brighton. The left-footed attacker is operating at such a level right now that he belongs in the conversation for the division’s very best player.
Remarkably, speaking via Sky Sports this week, Dean Ashton has described Palmer as better than Eden Hazard.

Ian Wright blown away by Cole Palmer
Ian Wright has massively praised Chelsea’s Palmer by claiming that his football intelligence is in a league of its own and that he’s never seen him play a bad pass in the attacking third.
He said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show: “His footballing intelligence is somewhere else. It’s amazing in that last third. I have never seen him make a poor pass in the last third. When it comes to finishing, he’s absolutely clinical.”
We agree that Palmer’s decision-making and execution in the final third is truly outstanding!
Cole Palmer is more than just a goal machine
Of course, Palmer is extremely valuable to Chelsea because he scores goals for fun. It’s now 31 goals in 53 appearances for the Blues since he joined them in the summer of 2023.
However, the English playmaker is also the creative spark of the Chelsea team with his incredible vision and weight of pass.
Palmer created four chances in the Brighton victory on Saturday, as per FotMob. He’s got four assists in his opening eight appearances this season across all competitions, but that tally could’ve been so much higher with some more ruthless finishing from his teammates.
Palmer gets midweek off as he’s not in the Conference League squad for this Thursday’s European tie at home to Gent. Therefore, he should be freshly rested and raring to go for Sunday’s league game at home to Nottingham Forest.
