Gary Neville believes Chelsea could surprise a lot of people next season if Mauricio Pochettino sits in their manager’s dugout.

Mauricio Pochettino, who’s a high-profile coach out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain last year, may soon be returning to management.

If the 51-year-old does move to Stamford Bridge, it’ll be his third Premier League job following spells at Southampton and Tottenham.

The rumours suggest that the Argentine will become Chelsea’s next permanent manager this summer.

The Times report this week that Chelsea could even offer Pochettino the role of their next head coach by Saturday night as final talks take place.

Neville is fairly positive about the potential of Chelsea appointing Pochettino.

In fact, the pundit is tipping the Blues to have a much improved and better season next year with him at the helm.

When discussing Pochettino on The Overlap, Neville said: “I think he is a really talented coach. I think Chelsea next year could really surprise us. Pochettino will bring the club together because he will; he’s likeable, and the players will respect him enormously,”

“I think he’ll do a very, very good job next season. He’ll cover a lot of the stuff that’s going on behind the scenes is my prediction. If they get him, I think you’ll have a very good season next year.

“Those players are perfect for Pochettino; they are talented and young, but they just need direction.”

Chelsea fans are starting to warm to the idea of Pochettino arrival as speculation in the media ramps up.

Graeme Souness has claimed he thinks Pochettino and Chelsea could be a really good fit.

His history of working and developing youngsters is a huge tick when you evaluate this current Blues squad, so we can’t for this season to be over and the next one to begin.

Hopefully, there’s an official announcement soon to lift spirits around the club.
