Chelsea fans and hierarchy alike have been very impressed with their start to life under their new manager this season.

Enzo Maresca was a bit of a left-field shout to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge, however there is a good feeling about what is happening there right now.

Maresca has made training sessions a fun place to be at Chelsea, and the results of his methods are becoming clear on the pitch.

He will be disappointed with what he saw from a number of his fringe players in the Carabao Cup, as they exited the competition at the hands of Newcastle United.

It was only really Mykhailo Mudryk who took his chance to impress at St. James’ Park, with it likely that plenty of changes will be in store before their return to league action.

Glenn Hoddle says Chelsea would be better with Thomas Tuchel in charge

While there have been no questions asked about whether Maresca is the man for the job as of yet, Glenn Hoddle has stated he thinks they would be better with former boss Thomas Tuchel at the helm.

He said to The Overlap: “I like him. I’ve spent a bit of time with him and had a few interviews with him and spoke to him after. I like him.

“Look at what he did at Chelsea and what happened to them after he left… he won the Champions League there.

“He should still be there now and they would be in a better state. I think Chelsea are back by the way, I think they’ve got a good chance of getting themselves back there. But they went missing for a while there. If he would’ve stayed…”

Tuchel preparing for an awkward England reunion with Levi Colwill

Tuchel has recently been named the new England manager, where he will get the opportunity to work with a number of Chelsea players in the coming years.

There may be a slightly awkward reunion between Tuchel and Levi Colwill, after it became clear the 51-year-old was not planning his future at Stamford Bridge with the young defender in mind.

Maresca will be looking to prove a point to those in charge of the running of the club up against Manchester United at the weekend.
