Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino says he has spoken to Conor Gallagher about his situation at Stamford Bridge.
Conor Gallagher‘s contract expires next year and the midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from west London.
Amid all of the speculation surrounding his future, Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to football.london and other outlets, has admitted that he has had a chat with Gallagher about his current situation.
The Argentine will not want to lose the 23-year-old, as he has been a key player for him this season.
In the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell, Pochettino has actually made Gallagher captain.
Mauricio Pochettino has spoken to Conor Gallagher about his future
Pochettino says Gallagher’s future is a matter the pair have spoken about.
“If you want to ask me if I was talking with Conor about this situation, yes,” the Chelsea boss said. “Like all the players when some rumour happens, always it’s good to have a good conversation with the player, like Ian Maatsen, or different players like this, Andrey Santos.
“I think always it’s important for us, the coaches, to have very clear and very direct, honest conversations with the players. It’s healthy to have these type of relationships. We were talking all different subjects and if we have something to communicate, then we will.”

Mauricio Pochettino needs to convince Chelsea to keep hold of Conor Gallagher
Pochettino really needs to be speaking to his superiors, which you suspect he is doing.
There is probably not much to say to Gallagher, who surely wants to remain at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are his boyhood club and he is currently getting game time there.
So if the England international is going to stay at the Blues, it looks like Pochettino will need to persuade the club’s sporting directors and owners to retain his services.
Being a homegrown player, Gallagher represents an opportunity for Chelsea to make pure profit, an opportunity they may decide to take this month if a good offer for him arrives. Pochettino has to convince them to throw that idea away.
