Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that one Chelsea player will make his return to the squad tomorrow for the Premier League match against Liverpool.

He claimed in his pre-match press conference that as well as Christopher Nkunku, Malo Gusto will return to the side that travel to Anfield tomorrow.

Chelsea have had injuries plague the majority of their season, with Gusto another player who has been unable to catch a break.

His presence in the squad this season has perhaps been more important than most thought, with Reece James being absent for the majority of the campaign.

The Frenchman has impressed greatly in his first season at Stamford Bridge, with his attacking skillset being a good substitute while the club captain has been injured.

With him not available in recent weeks, Pochettino has looked to players to play out of position in order to fill the void.

Gusto returning to squad

Axel Disasi and Alfie Gilchrist have played in this role, with the former finding the net in the EFL Cup semi-final off the back of a marauding forwards run.

However, the manager confirmed he was excited that he could welcome back a natural right-back to the squad for tomorrow’s game.

He said: “I think it’s good news that Malo Gusto and Christoph can be in the squad tomorrow. We will see. Always we are waiting for the last moment. At the moment, it’s good news.”

Tomorrow’s game will be seen by many as somewhat of a dress rehearsal for the EFL Cup final next month between these two sides.

Chelsea will perhaps count themselves unlucky to be the first Premier League side to visit Anfield since Jurgen Klopp announced that it would be his last season at the club.

The crowd are sure to be up for the occasion, as tomorrow’s opponents continue their push for the Premier League title.
