Graham Potter has revealed that Edouard Mendy might miss the clash between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
Speaking on his pre-match press conference, Potter confirmed the goalkeeper is carrying an issue he sustained at the World Cup that could cause him to sit out Sunday’s Premier League showdown.
Mendy only recently returned to Cobham following his adventures with Senegal in Qatar.
The 30-year-old was eventually knocked out by club colleague Mason Mount in the round of 16.
After a short period of relaxation and recovery, the Senegal international headed back to London ahead of domestic football’s resumption.

However, it appears the £22m ‘keeper will have to wait a little longer to kickstart his own personal campaign.
Edouard Mendy to miss Nottingham Forest showdown
“Mendy we’re not sure, we’ll see how he is over the next few days. He has a problem with a bone that he picked up at the World Cup and needed a little bit of time,” explained Potter.
If Mendy is sidelined for the trip to Forest, Kepa Arrizabalaga will once again start between the sticks.
Kepa was in goal for the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday, Chelsea’s first league victory in six attempts.
He retained the gloves for the first time since being replaced by Mendy at the end of October, and excelled at Stamford Bridge.

They exchanged places for a second occasion this season, with injuries causing the repeated rotation.
With one set for another stint in the treatment room, it seems Kepa will be the number one for the time being.
