Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City.

That’s been confirmed today by Blues coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Carney Chukwuemeka has only played seven games across all competitions so far this season, missing several months with a knee problem.

The 20-year-old’s been back involved in the last few weeks with some minutes from the bench.

Unfortunately, he’s now suffered a new injury blow.

Pochettino has confirmed that Chukwuemeka will miss tomorrow’s game at the Etihad Stadium with an ankle injury he sustained earlier this week in training.

There’s no timeframe on the £20m star’s (Sky Sports) return date, but we’re purely speculating it’s nothing serious based off the manager’s comments.

“Carney Chukwuemeka twisted his ankle two days ago. He suffered a twist in his ankle and he is out,” Pochettino said, as quoted by the club’s official YouTube account.

It’s another frustrating blow for a Chelsea youngster we’re very excited about moving forward.

Chukwuemeka started the opening two league games under Pochettino before his injury setback, so he’s clearly someone he does rate.

The box-to-box midfielder may have his path into the XI blocked by Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez right now, but let’s hope he’s back rapidly from injury to compete for a position.

Speaking via Premier League productions (20 August, 2023), Marcel Desailly raved about the ability of Chukwuemeka and described him as an “artist”.

We just hope he doesn’t become yet another Chelsea player whose career is stop-start because of injury interruptions.
