Ipswich Town fans looked like they loved every minute of their side’s victory against Chelsea on Monday.

Kieran McKenna’s men were really impressive on the night, managing to beat Chelsea 2-0.

It was a defeat that proved to be too much for a few Chelsea players. Enzo Fernandez was furious after the game, while Levi Colwill was not too happy during it.

As Chelsea and their slim title chances crumbled, Ipswich supporters took absolute delight.

Levi Colwill sees funny side of Portman Road mockery

Colwill and his centre-back partner Tosin Adarabioyo really had a night to forget after coming up against Liam Delap.

Overall, it was not an enjoyable outing for Colwill, who was really angry during one moment in the game.

It saw Ipswich fans taunt the 21-year-old with chants of “he’s gonna cry in a minute”, which he actually responded quite well to.

According to journalist Bobby Vincent, Colwill started to laugh upon hearing what the home fans at Portman Road were singing.

After the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Fulham, Colwill claimed that Chelsea were not in the title race. That definitely seems to be the case now following that loss to Ipswich.

Levi Colwill was Chelsea’s best-performing defender against Ipswich Town

It was not Colwill’s best game. Delap did trouble him at times, though not as much as Adarabioyo.

However, compared to Chelsea’s other defenders, the Englishman was definitely the top performer on the night.

Despite playing against a side possessing a very physical centre-forward like Delap, Colwill still managed to win all of his aerial duels. He also made three clearances and was not dribbled past once.

While they have attacked well under Enzo Maresca this season, Chelsea have shown that their defence has its vulnerabilities.

The club may look to address that by dipping into the transfer market, but Colwill does not look to be the problem in their backline. The England international will not be the one getting replaced if Chelsea do decide to sign a new defender in January.
