How many shots it is taking for Christopher Nkunku to score in the Premier League

Since arriving at Chelsea from RB Leipzig last summer, Christopher Nkunku has not always got to play.

Christopher Nkunku has had quite a few injury problems that have limited his game time at Chelsea.

However, when the forward does play, he often looks dangerous. And that was the case against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Nkunku scored with his only shot of the game after weaving through a couple of Bournemouth defenders. Gary Cahill thought Nkunku showed real strength to do what he did before he slotted the ball past Mark Travers.

Christopher Nkunku’s finishing

Nkunku is probably the best finisher in Enzo Maresca‘s squad. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, he just has not had too many opportunities to show that because of injuries.

In his penultimate season at Leipzig, for example, Nkunku scored 35 goals in 52 appearances. When the 26-year-old is fit and at it, he is very clinical.

Chelsea fans have seen signs of that when he has been able to put on a blue shirt. In the Premier League, Nkunku is currently averaging a goal per every 4.5 shots, which is better than what the rest of the team’s attack is managing.

Chelsea will now be hoping that Nkunku’s injury problems are behind him.

Christopher Nkunku can keep Nicolas Jackson on his toes at Chelsea

Chelsea did not sign an experienced striker during the summer transfer window. They were interested in Victor Osimhen but could not get a deal over the line in the end.

Chelsea are contemplating going back in for Osimhen in January, but until then, Nicolas Jackson is likely to remain the team’s first-choice striker.

However, Nkunku is starting to put a bit of pressure on him now that the France international is fit again and has just proven that he can win games for Chelsea.

It should keep Jackson on his toes and maybe push him to become a better centre-forward in order to keep his place in the side.
