Chelsea are set to confirm their latest summer signing in the coming days, and they will be very pleased with the deal they look to have completed.

The Blues are set to unveil Jorrel Hato as a new signing in the coming days after coming to an agreement with Ajax over a deal.

Liverpool and Arsenal also wanted Hato, however he made it clear that he wanted a move to Stamford Bridge, leaving the two clubs to strike a deal.

The Dutchman is being seen as a replacement for Renato Veiga, who is still expected to leave despite his move to Atletico Madrid stalling.

How much Chelsea are paying to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax

Hato had already agreed an eight-year deal with the Blues, and this has left there being very few hurdles left in the way before he is a Chelsea player.

The main stalling point up to now was the fee being paid by the club. It was said that there was a small gap in what the two parties valued the player at.

A meeting point seems to have been met, and according to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are set to pay in the region of £37m for the exciting full-back.

He said: “Fee for Hato is understood to be in the region of €43m. Ajax also have a sell-on.”

With the Blues set to make a similar fee for Veiga, this can be seen as brilliant business by the Blues this summer.

Chelsea’s plan for Jorrel Hato and Marc Cucurella

Chelsea have been desperate to bring in another left-back in order to provide cover and competition for Marc Cucurella in the first team side.

With a significant age gap between the two, Chelsea hope Cucurella can be a mentor for Hato, so he has learned enough to be the starting option in years to come.

Enzo Maresca could feature both in his starting side if he looks to play Hato as a central defender, a position he has also played for Ajax.

The Netherlands international will be given his chances in big games next season, given the Blues will be competing on all four fronts in the upcoming campaign.
