Ian Wright and Roy Keane have made their pre-match prediction ahead of Newcastle United against Chelsea this weekend.
Chelsea visit St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon to play Newcastle in the Premier League, with top-flight action returning after the international break.
Newcastle may have gladly welcomed the pause in fixtures due to recent results, losing back-to-back games against Bournemouth (league) and Borussia Dortmund (Champions League). It’s been a chance for Eddie Howe’s side to click the restart button and allow injured players more time to recover.
As for the Blues, there was a feel-good factor building around the club before the internationals. Mauricio Pochettino’s side collected four points in the previous two league matches versus Manchester City and Tottenham.

Newcastle vs Chelsea prediction
Speaking together on The Overlap, Ian Wright and Roy Keane worked together to deliver a score prediction for Newcastle against Chelsea.
They both ended up agreeing: “2-1 to Newcastle.”
Elsewhere, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville predicted on The Overlap a Newcastle win over Chelsea.
Head to head
Chelsea picked up just a single point from their two league games last season against Newcastle, with the latter certainly following an upwards trajectory.
However, the Blues had won seven out of eight meetings with Newcastle before the 2022/23 campaign.
As for Pochettino, he’s coached against Newcastle 13 times in his managerial career. He’s recorded seven wins, one draw and five defeats.
Both sides have had to deal with their fair share of injuries already this season. Thankfully, it looks like the Blues are out of the worst of it as they welcome back some big names. For Newcastle, they looked depleted for numbers before the international break.
