‘I’m going to go with’: TalkSPORT pundit responds when asked who’s better – Haaland or Drogba

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that he believes Erling Haaland is already better than Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

The Manchester City striker has taken to the Premier League with ease since his move from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

He has 20 goals in 12 games so far this season, adding three assists in the Premier League too.

The electric goalscoring form is something this country has never really seen, and Chelsea fans will be envious seeing a number nine firing freely.

In the last two campaigns, the Blues have had to look to midfield for the majority of their goals.

While Mason Mount reached double digits last season, their top scorer in the 2020/21 campaign was Jorginho, who scored all his goals from the penalty spot.

Agbonlahor compares Drogba and Haaland

Agbonlahor was comparing a number of the best strikers to ever play the game to Haaland, and if he’d rather the Norwegian in his team than the legend of the game.

When comparing to Drogba, he said: “Drogba was an outstanding striker, a very, very, very, very good striker but I’m going to go with Haaland.”

Blues fans will be hesitant to take the words of the former Aston Villa striker seriously, with some of his opinions of late certainly going against the grain.

Overall, it is very difficult to claim that despite the sensational start to his career, that Haaland can be considered a better striker than the former Chelsea man.

You only need to look at the importance of the Ivorian in big games, particularly cup finals, to remember just how good a player he was.

The Blues will get their first up close look at the 22-year-old in the league after the World Cup, with them hosting the Premier League champions on the New Year’s weekend.

They do face City in the EFL Cup next month, although it is unlikely Haaland will be utilised for that one with the fixtures stacking up.
