‘I’m so happy’… Mauricio Pochettino delighted after what Chelsea pair did vs Brighton

Two Chelsea players have made Mauricio Pochettino a very happy man after their roles in the Blues’ 3-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.

Chelsea were able to beat the Seagulls with 10 men, thanks to a goal from Levi Colwill and Enzo Fernandez‘s brace.

And Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to Chelsea’s official website after the game, says there was one aspect of the match that he really liked.

The Blues will now look to build on their win against Brighton when they take on Manchester United on Wednesday.

Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill have made Mauricio Pochettino happy

Fernandez and Colwill’s goals helped Chelsea to claim all three points yesterday, and Pochettino says he is happy to see different players getting their name on the scoresheet.

He told the club’s official website after the game: “It’s important that different players can score. For Enzo, it was his first and second goal in the Premier League. We are always talking about confidence, it is important that they are building that confidence.

“Players always need six months or one season to start to show their real quality, why is it going to be different at Chelsea? I’m so happy that different players could score goals, to help the team.”

Chelsea’s main goalscorers this season

Chelsea have been relying on Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer for goals in the current campaign.

Jackson is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League with six strikes to his name, while Sterling and Palmer rank in second and third with five and four respectively.

If you told Chelsea fans before the Brighton game that none of those players would score, they would have predicted a loss.

Thankfully, though, Fernandez and Colwill were able to step up and help the Blues to earn a much-needed win.

We do not expect Colwill to score too many more goals this season as a defender, but with Fernandez being a quality midfield player, it would be nice to see him being a little bit more productive in attack.

Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto would also like to see the World Cup winner bring more to the table. Ultimately, scoring goals is probably how Fernandez reaches that next level at Stamford Bridge.
