The Blues missed some big chances, with a number of their top players not turning up for the big game.

Gary Neville in particular had his opinions on the Blues, going as far as calling the side ‘Billion-Pound Bottlejobs’ for not coming out with the win.

Wright has now stated he believes some of the comments have been over the top.

Ian Wright on Chelsea comments

He said: “The billion dollar bottle jobs is one of the harshest things I’ve said about any team for a long time. It’s a young team playing for a massive club who are trying to get back to the glory days.

“Yes, they have spent a lot of money. We know that. And we can say what we want to say about how that money has been spent and it’s a waste. But to call that team blue billion bottle jobs, is so harsh. It’s so harsh.

“I swear, it’s the one which makes me instantly want to go from zero to 10 when people say they bottle it. Chelsea missed some chances today.”

Pochettino has also had his say on what Neville said, with him also thinking the comments were out of turn.

It will definitely take a big effort for the manager to get his side back to their best this season, however does not have long until they have to be.

They will take on old rivals Leeds United in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge in just two days’ time.
