It is widely accepted that during the 2010s, Chelsea had one of the best players in the world at their disposal.
Eden Hazard lit up Stamford Bridge on a weekly basis, and achieved a standard that the Blues have been looking to replicate since his departure in 2019.
They were hoping this would be the case with Raheem Sterling, however that deal has now ended with them paying half of his wages to play for Arsenal.

Grealish rates Hazard over Neymar
In truth though, there are very few players with the quality Hazard has, and this is why his name frequently pops up in debates over some of the best players the world has ever seen.
Jack Grealish was asked by TalkSPORT on whether he thought Hazard was better than former PSG and Barcelona star Neymar, with him siding with the Belgian.
He also preferred the former Chelsea man over Ronaldinho, before he eventually lost out to Cristiano Ronaldo.
There may be some optimism at Stamford Bridge right now that they have finally found a player who could be able to compete with the legacy left by Hazard.
Cole Palmer has somehow managed to find another level this season, with him today being named the player of the month in the Premier League for September.
He has tied Hazard’s record of two awards in his Chelsea career, doing so in 12 months of his time at the club.
It is hard to compare a player who performed at the highest level for near enough a decade to someone who has starred for just a season or so, but the future is certainly bright for Palmer.
This is perhaps backed up by the fact that Chelsea have already taken the opportunity to extend his already-long contract by another year, allowing him a far more competitive base salary.
