Jamie O’Hara has tipped one Chelsea star to become “world-class” after some impressive performances at the Club World Cup.

The Blues shocked everyone but themselves on Sunday by thrashing Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the Club World Cup final.

Even though the 2024/25 season has been a long and gruelling one, it was capped off in style with a second major trophy under Enzo Maresca. Incidentally, Alan Shearer expects Chelsea to challenge for the Premier League when looking ahead to next year.

Jamie O’Hara amazed by new Chelsea favourite Joao Pedro

In the space of a couple of weeks, Joao Pedro has joined Chelsea from Brighton and become an instant hit with supporters. The 23-year-old forward scored three goals in three appearances for the Blues at the Club World Cup, including a remarkable dinked effort in the final against PSG.

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara thinks the new Blues striker can develop into a “world-class” player after such a quick start at his new club.

O’Hara told talkSPORT: (10:10pm, 14 July): “Joao Pedro looks the real deal. You’ve signed something a bit special there… I actually think Joao Pedro is going to turn into a world-class [signing]. He looks good. He looks confident. He’s looking like a good player.”

It couldn’t have gone much better for Pedro at the start of his Chelsea career.

Blues defender Levi Colwill admitted he didn’t realise Pedro’s quality until he joined the group midway through the Club World Cup tournament and started training with them.

The Brazilian attacker already has a remarkable goal catalogue with three stunning goals in Chelsea colours. Let’s hope it’s just the beginning and he can deliver in the 2025/26 season.

New Chelsea combination can torment any opposition

While it’s important not to get too carried away by Pedro’s quick-fire start, the partnership that he’s already forming on the pitch with Cole Palmer looks so exciting.

Pedro admitted he’s worked closely with Palmer during the little time together they’ve had so far on the training pitch. Despite that, we’ve already seen some fantastic link-ups between the pair on a matchday at the Club World Cup.

The fact that Pedro and Palmer are two extremely intelligent footballers has helped them to hit it off from day one. We can’t wait to see it in the Premier League, too!

It makes a lot of sense that Pedro was excited about playing with Palmer when making his move to Chelsea.
