Jamie O’Hara has called for Tottenham fans not to boo Mauricio Pochettino on his return to his former club with Chelsea tonight.

He told TalkSPORT that he believes his time at the North London club does not see him deserving of being jeered when he arrives tonight.

The build up to tonight’s game has been dominated by talk of Pochettino returning to his former side for the very first time.

He already claimed that he will not celebrate if the Blues score, although that is more down to his natural reaction to goals his sides score.

A lot of talk however has been whether the Argentine will get a strong reaction from home fans before and during tonight’s game.

O’Hara, a noted Spurs fan, has called for supporters to not go down that route.

O’Hara on Pochettino reaction

He said: “I think he will get a good reception because he gave us a lot of years and he was a good manager. I think some of his comments since he’s been at Chelsea have been a little bit disrespectful but you get it, people move on. He’s a manager at a huge club in Chelsea and it’s his job now and he has to play the role of Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea.

“If we weren’t doing well, I think he would get a reception where people would want him back and people would be shouting his name but Ange has been so good, and the fans love him so much, the I think Pochettino is a bit irrelevant now, I think we have moved on from it.

“He was a great manager for us, we didn’t win anything, but we were a good side and played decent football. I hope we don’t boo him, because I think he deserves a good reception.”

With Ange Postecoglu’s incredible popularity there right now, it is hard to see anyone being too bothered about what Pochettino is doing right now, even if it is with one of their biggest rivals.
