After losing against Brighton and Manchester United, Chelsea are aiming to avoid three consecutive league defeats for the first time in over two years.
Enzo Maresca, 45, hasn’t got much wrong during his 15 months in charge as the head coach. However, it feels like a difficult spell he’s trying to navigate through right now, especially because of the pile up of injuries in the squad.
Even if some fans are frustrated, Chelsea’s owners are still fully behind Maresca, and there has been no panic about the inconsistent results so far this season.

Jamie Redknapp insists Enzo Maresca isn’t under threat at Chelsea
According to Jamie Redknapp, Chelsea boss Maresca won’t be under pressure when it comes to his position at the club.
Redknapp said via the Sky Sports TikTok channel: “I think that there is definitely a consequence of what happened of playing in the Club World Cup… I think for Chelsea it’s going to be a really tough season because they’ve not had the rest that other clubs have had…
“The performance and the way that they played in the [Club World Cup] final was absolutely fantastic. So he has got money in the bank. But I don’t see a situation where he’s under pressure from the club. He just needs to make sure he gets good results.”
While we agree that Maresca should be fine in his role at Chelsea, there is always a risk of chaos ensuing at any moment at this football club.
The Italian manager should have credit in the bank after a very strong debut season last year, winning two trophies with the Blues. Can he now back it up when the pressure and expectation has increased, though?
John Obi Mikel’s assessment on Maresca is that he is the right coach to lead this talented young squad forward.
