Chelsea travel to Brighton on Friday night in the Premier League for a repeat of last weekend’s FA Cup tie.
Chelsea were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Brighton during the recent cup trip to the Amex Stadium, so they’ll be hoping for a better performance and result for the travelling supporters.
The Blues go into the league fixture sitting fourth in the division table. Now that Enzo Maresca’s side are out of both domestic cup competitions, their focus is just on the Premier League and Conference League for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
Jamie Carragher claims it’ll be disastrous if Chelsea don’t qualify for the Champions League, so they’ve got 14 league games left to try pick up enough points.

Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara predict Brighton vs Chelsea
While making their latest round of Premier League predictions on talkSPORT (11:23pm, 13 February), Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara both previewed Friday night’s showdown between Brighton and Chelsea.
O’Hara thinks that the Blues will suffer a defeat during their latest trip to the Amex Stadium. He said: “I think Chelsea are struggling… I’m going to go 2-1 again [to Brighton].”
However, Chelsea fan Cundy disagrees and has tipped an away win. He said: “2-2. Do you know what? I can’t do that. Chelsea 3-2 Brighton.”
Elsewhere, darts stars Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting have offered their pre-match predictions via the Premier League’s official website.
Littler said: “Tough game but I say 2-1 Chelsea. I think Brighton will score.”
Bunting added: “I’m going for a draw, 1-1. I think they’ll both score.”
Meanwhile, Paul Merson and Chris Sutton disagree on their predictions for Brighton versus Chelsea.

Chelsea can put pressure on rivals with a win
Chelsea kick off the weekend fixtures by playing Brighton on Friday evening. If they secure three points, it could deliver a real psychological blow to some of their rivals for Champions League qualification.

The fact that fifth place Manchester City host sixth place Newcastle United on Saturday makes Chelsea’s fixture feel like a must-win to try open the gap. We’ve seen this season that results can be quite unpredictable in the Premier League, though.

Chelsea’s hierarchy are happy with Maresca despite the FA Cup defeat, exiting the competition in the fourth round.
However, if the Blues lose away to Brighton again in the league meeting, we predict that the negative noise from supporters that’s bubbling away in the background will grow louder.
